The Pan African Technical Association is guided by a dedicated group of volunteer Board members who represent technical and non-technical backgrounds and bring experience, insights and qualifications gained from the areas of government, private sector, non-profit and academia.

"Yaw" Frederick L. Davis

Executive Director

“Yaw” Frederick L. Davis began his professional career in engineering after graduating in 1984 from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. Mr. Davis has worked in engineering for 26 years; this includes a six year position as a Design Engineer with Parker Hannifin Corporation and 20 years with the Boeing Company as Design Engineer, Project Engineer and Engineering Research and Development Manager.

Mr. Davis earned his private pilot license in 1993 and has logged over 250 flight hours in Cessna 150’s, 152’s, 172’s and Robin aircraft. Mr. Davis has taken aerobatic training and is certified to perform maneuvers such as loops, aileron rolls, snap rolls, hammerhead stalls and inverted flight. Bessie Coleman, the first African American pilot to obtain a flying license, male or female, inspired Mr. Davis to learn the art of performing aerobatics.

Robert “Akil” Bell

Robert “Akil” Bell

Co-Chair

Robert “Akil” Bell has served over 20 years in the realm of program design and youth development and 18 years of work in schools and the non-profit sector. During Mr. Bell’s twenty years of working in schools and with youth, he also served as an Education Manager, Student Development Coordinator, mediator, facilitator and mentor for youth in schools and the community throughout the Los Angeles County.

Mr. Bell has trained young professionals in youth development and programming. He has mediated student, family and organization disputes and facilitated discussions with community and school district around the areas of health policy, community health, youth violence, and sports. These experiences have given him the skills and the capacity to continue to work in schools and for the benefit of youth and families in underrepresented communities.

Janette Robinson-Flint

Janette Robinson-Flint

Director

Janette has been serving her community as a public health professional for over 30 years. She has attended the University of Southern California where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She is a community professional at Charles Drew University, where she teaches public health professionals, doctors, and nurses about reproductive justice and the impact of health policies on minority groups. Janette is also a member of the African American Studies Community Advisory Committee at UCLA.

Early in her career, she worked as a peer educator informing women in Los Angeles targeting HIV education and outreach to Black women. Janette is involved in the Women’s Health Collaborative, California Pan Ethnic Health Network, the African American Task Force and the Leadership Development in Interethnic Relationships Advisory Council.

Brenton

Brenton "Ausar" Guy

Treasurer

Brenton “Ausar” Guy has over seven years of experience as an Industrial Engineer and community volunteer. Brenton currently works for the Southern California Gas Company as an Industrial Engineering Project Manager. Prior to joining SoCalGas, Mr. Guy worked for the City of Los Angeles’ General Services Department in Warehouse Logistics. A proud graduate from the University of Southern California, Brenton believes in the balancing of family, work, and community.

To foster community development, Mr. Guy has devoted hundreds of hours to helping the community, most recently with the Vermont Slauson Economic Development Corporation and the Pan African Technical Association. Prior to his career as an Industrial Engineer, Brenton owned a number of small businesses. To continue to exercise his entrepreneurial skills, Brenton and his wife currently own a property management company with several real estate holdings.

Dawn R. Sanders

Dawn R. Sanders

Dawn R. Sanders has extensive experience in database systems, Web site development, Content Development, Business Planning and Market Research. Ms. Sanders’ technical project experience has encompassed the development, implementation and maintenance of various data management systems and Web-based applications in support of U.S. Department of Defense clients as well as private-sector clientele.

A skilled communicator, Ms. Sanders establishes a rapport with members of geographically diverse teams and promotes team cohesiveness. Ms. Sanders conducts market research towards the development of business and marketing plans to support the development and implementation of operations, sales and marketing strategies.

Ms. Sanders’ education is a B.S.E. Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University.
